Farewell to the third fight with Golovkin? Canelo left DAZN and Golden Boy

The most profitable boxer to date, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, has become a free agent, according to ESPN.

It is noted that the Mexican has terminated the contract with Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN.

After many days of negotiations, representatives of Canelo and Golden Boy Promotions decided to part ways.

In September, Alvarez filed a lawsuit against his promoter Oscar De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN streaming service. The complaint alleged that the boxer's contract with DAZN for several fights was violated and caused colossal financial damage.

At the same time, Alvarez and GBP could not agree with DAZN on the next fight due to  financial disagreements - the boxer was offered only half of the fee promised by the contract. Under the terms of the deal, the Mexican was guaranteed to earn at least $ 35 million per battle. But the bosses of streaming have abandoned the previously spelled out agreements.

At the same time, DAZN was never able to get Canelo to fight a third fight with Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin, although this was also written in the contract. Given the current events, the question of the trilogy is still open.

Alvarez is reportedly aiming to return to the ring on December 19 and face off against Caleb Plant.
