The lawyer doubted Trump's ability to influence the outcome of the election

The attempt by US President Donald Trump to challenge the voting results in key states has no good reason and is unlikely to be able to influence the election results, lawyer Toby Cadman told RIA Novosti.

“There is no credible factual or legal basis to assert that mail-in ballot papers could be invalidated. The rules are clear enough. Trump's staff may not like it, they probably might be worth the election, but there is a huge difference between discontent and legitimacy, "Cadman said.

Earlier, Trump said that the issue of the election results could end in the Supreme Court.

“This will not help in the absence of reliable evidence of vote rigging. The fact that he appointed Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court is unlikely to help, ”Cadman suggested.

He said the Trump administration "has every right to file a lawsuit" over the  counting of votes in states where the election results are not going according to his scenario, but the efforts are likely to bring no change.

"It is important to note that the lawsuits threatened by the Trump administration may have little or no impact on the final election results ... Biden will likely win more than 300 electoral votes, which is much more than 270 needed to win," the lawyer said.

Trump runs the risk of tarnishing the U.S. reputation if he does file a lawsuit with the Supreme Court, Cadman said.

The lawyer added that Trump had no problem voting by mail in the states where he was leading.

Even before the election began, Trump strongly opposed the mail-order vote, which was allowed in most states in connection with the coronavirus. Trump said mail-order voting could lead to massive fraud and long-term uncertainty with the winner of the election.

Democratic candidate Joe Biden announced his election as President of the United States on Saturday and pledged to be President for all. Earlier, the largest American media announced Biden's victory in the presidential race.

Donald Trump, in turn, said that the elections are still far from over, he intends to defend his own victory in court.
