In Russia, 20 396 infected with coronavirus were detected per day

The number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia for the second day in a row exceeds 20 thousand. Over the past day, 20,396 cases were detected, the total number of infected increased to 1,753,836, the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus told reporters on Saturday.

In relative terms, according to the headquarters, the increase in two days does not exceed 1.2%.The smallest growth rates were recorded per day in the Republic of Dagestan (0.5%), Tatarstan, the Chuvash Republic (0.6% each), Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Moscow Region, and the Republic of Mari El (0.7% each).

In particular, 5,829 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Moscow per day, 629 - in the Moscow region, 434 - in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 359 - in the Arkhangelsk region and 322 - in the Krasnodar Territory.

The number of recovered

Three quarters of all cases have already been cured. The number of Russians who recovered per day increased by 16 803 against 16 955 the day before. In total, 1,312,927 people have already been cured, or 74.9% of those infected.

In particular, 3,675 patients were discharged per day for recovery in Moscow, 437 - in the Samara region, 435 - in the Moscow region, 421 - in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 397 - in the Voronezh region, 352 - in the Volgograd region, 324 - in the Kemerovo region. ...

In total, 410 658 people are currently undergoing treatment in Russia. This includes cases where the infection is transmitted with mild or no symptoms.

However, the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, cited other data on Friday evening: according to him, about 250 thousand people are now in hospitals, and another 650 thousand are being treated on an outpatient basis. Thus, there are 2.2 times more active cases in Russia than follows from the reports of the operational headquarters.

Such a difference may be due to the fact that coronavirus infection is now diagnosed not only with the help of tests, on the data of which the headquarters relies. On Thursday, the chief freelance pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health Sergei Avdeev said that  due to poor  quality tests and the development of the disease, tests can give a false negative result in 30-40% of cases. Later, he clarified that errors are more common in hospitals, where patients are admitted at a later stage, and they are treated based on the characteristic clinical picture.

                                       Number of deaths

The number of deaths per day increased by 364 against 378 the day before and reached 30,251.

In particular, 75 deaths were recorded per day in Moscow, 18 in the Rostov region, 14 in the Moscow region, 12 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and 10 each in the Samara and Ulyanovsk regions.

The conditional mortality of the disease (the final one can be determined only after the end of the epidemic) remained at 1.72%, follows from the data of the headquarters.

However, on Friday, Rosstat presented updated mortality statistics for September, from which it follows that the coronavirus was the main cause of 5,199 deaths this month. In another 4,599 cases, the infection was a co-morbid condition affecting the outcome in less than a quarter of patients. Based on these data, the mortality rate of infection in September, depending on the calculation method, ranged from 2.8% to 5.3%.

According to the operational headquarters, in the month before last, only 3,592 deaths were registered due to  coronavirus, and the mortality rate was 1.9%.

From April to the end of September, according to Rosstat, infection with coronavirus led to 31,969 deaths, in another 23,702 people a new infection was detected, but did not become the immediate cause of death. At the same time, the headquarters reported 20,867 deaths during these months.

This is due to the fact that it takes into account only those deaths when the coronavirus has already been finally confirmed as the main cause (such in September, according to Rosstat, there were 4,329, in another 870 cases additional confirmation is required). At the same time, the difference between operational and updated statistics is decreasing: if in May it was 2,236 cases, then in September it was only 737.

It should be borne in mind that the information of the headquarters is incomplete, in fact, there are more cases and deaths in the country. Thus, this information does not take into account the updated statistics on mortality for the previous months. So, according to Rosstat, from April to the end of September, 31,969 people died in the country due to the  coronavirus, in another 23,702 cases the infection was detected, but did not become the immediate cause of death. At the same time, the headquarters reported 20,867 deaths during this period.

                               Geography of the epidemic

Moscow remains the main focus of the epidemic in the country, where an increase in the number of cases, including those requiring hospitalization, has again been recorded since the beginning of the week. In an interview with TASS, the deputy mayor of the capital for social development Anastasia Rakova admitted that the authorities cannot call the situation with the coronavirus in the city stable. At the same time, she noted, the capital's healthcare system has a margin of safety - specialized hospitals are filled only by 70%

A serious outbreak is developing in  St. Petersburg - over the past day, the city confirmed the maximum for the entire time of the pandemic 1,258 cases of infection, and the maximums in the number of cases are updated daily.

An increase in the incidence is recorded not only in two capitals, but also practically throughout the country. In the regions of the Central Federal District, even excluding Moscow, 2,910 infected were detected per day, which was the highest value for the entire time of the pandemic, and in the  North-West (without St. Petersburg) - 1,655, this is the fourth place among the districts.

In the Volga region, the number of infected people increased by 2,913 with peaks in a number of regions, including the Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg and Samara regions, as well as Bashkiria. In Siberia - by 1,973, the highest growth since the beginning of the pandemic was recorded in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Irkutsk, Omsk and Tomsk regions.

The fifth place was taken by the Far East (1,548 cases per day), the sixth and seventh - by the Southern and Ural federal districts (1,252 and 1,111, respectively). In the North Caucasus, 626 infected were detected per day, a third of which are in the Stavropol Territory.
