China puts forward proposals for a world order after the pandemic

"Russia-China: Main". Chinese President Xi Jinping, speaking on Saturday at the G20 summit, put forward proposals regarding the role of the G20 in the international order and the global order after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This November, when the leaders of the G20 countries hold their 15th summit, the world was faced with an even more serious financial crisis than the 2008 financial crisis. “At the end of this year, humanity is experiencing the most serious pandemic in the past century, as a result of which more than a million people died. The world economy has fallen into decay, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic is much more serious than the consequences of the global financial crisis of 2008, ”said Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Xi Jinping's speech at the 15th G20 Summit was titled "Joint Confrontation to the Pandemic, Building a Common Future."

Creating a global barrier

The Chinese leader in his speech highlighted the work on vaccines. He stressed that China will fulfill its commitment to support and assist developing countries by making COVID-19 vaccines available to the world.

Reducing barriers to global economic recovery

“It is necessary to reduce tariffs and barriers, as well as explore the possibility of liberalizing trade in basic medical products. We need to continue to agree on policies and standards, and create “express corridors” to facilitate the orderly movement of people, ”Xi Jinping said. He also called for promoting the formation of a unified system of "Health Code" through the generally recognized two-dimensional code.

Revealing the role of the digital economy

Xi Jinping called for the promotion of healthy growth of the digital economy and the joint creation of an environment for digital development that is open, fair, equitable and non-discriminatory.

The challenges posed by the development of the digital economy in employment, taxation, and the well-being of vulnerable groups must be overcome, and the digital divide must be overcome.

Implementing development in a wider space

Xi Jinping noted that China, overcoming its own difficulties, is fully implementing the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI), put forward by the G20, totaling over $ 1.3 billion. China also proposes to convene an international conference on reducing food losses at an opportune time.

The G20 must play a greater role in global governance

The coronavirus pandemic has become one of humanity's largest crises, with obvious gaps in global governance in the fight against infection. Speaking at the G20 summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that in the post-epidemic era, the G20 should bear a greater responsibility for improving international order and global governance.

Strengthening the UN-led international system

The global threat and crisis require a powerful global response. At the summit held in September this year on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN, Chinese President Xi Jinping voiced "three principles of protection": the protection of the international system led by the UN; protection of the international order, which is based on international law; protection of the key role of the UN in international affairs. During his speech on November 21, Xi Jinping reiterated: "We support the UN to more effectively achieve global consensus, mobilize global resources and coordinate global action."

Optimization of the management structure in the context of economic globalization
Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the need to resolutely defend the multilateral trading system, which is based on international norms and is characterized by transparency, non-discriminatory approach, openness and inclusiveness. “We must oppose unilateralism and protectionism, and confront the challenges of economic globalization in order to promote economic globalization more openly, inclusive, comprehensive, balanced and mutually beneficial.”

Striving for healthy development of the digital economy

In a speech on November 21, Chinese President Xi Jinping noted the importance of common efforts to create an open, balanced, fair and non-discriminatory environment for the development of the digital economy. He expressed his willingness to hold extensive discussions on this topic, and to formulate the rules for global digital governance based on the "Global Data Security Initiative" launched by China in September this year.

Increasing the potential for responding to global challenges

Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that the most urgent tasks today are strengthening the global public health system, preventing and controlling coronavirus infection and other infectious diseases. “At the same time, we must intensify international cooperation in the field of environmental protection for the sake of preserving our common home,” the Chinese leader said. Earlier, at the 12th meeting of the leaders of the BRICS countries on November 17, he emphasized: "Global warming will not stop because of the  pandemic, so you cannot relax for a minute in confronting climate change."
