Many persons have been reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen at Opi-Agu community in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State during an invasion.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday.
An unspecified number of people were also injured in the unprovoked attack.
Although the details of the incident were still sketchy at the time of filing this report, it was learnt that unidentified youth were killed.
At the time of filing this report, Hottunz Blog could not ascertain the reason behind the invasion.
In December 2020, some armed men suspected to be herdsmen also invaded Agu-Amede community in the Isi-Uzo local government area of the state and killed 22 persons.
Between February 20, 2021 and December 2022, armed men suspected to be herdsmen invaded five communities in Eha-Amufu, killed scores of people, sacked 15 farm settlements, and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
Also, 60 percent of kidnapping incidents recorded in the state since 2018 have been attributed to herdsmen.
Meanwhile, efforts to get the reaction of the state police command to the attack were unsuccessful as its spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, did not answer his calls.
At the time of filing this report, he had yet to reply to a text message sent to him seeking information about the attack.
