Travellers from UAE, 10 other countries to be allowed into Saudi Arabia from tomorrow

Riyadh: Travellers coming from the UAE, Germany, US, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Britain, Sweden, Switzerland, France and Japan, will be allowed to enter the kingdom with the implementation of institutional quarantine procedures, starting from 1am tomorrow, Sunday (May 30).

International travel resumed on May 17

The Kingdom said people who received COVID-19 vaccines could travel abroad along with those who recovered from infection in less than six months, it said. Citizens below 18 can travel if they have health insurance policy that covers coronavirus-related risks.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia imposed institutional quarantine on arriving passengers starting from May 20, the Ministry announced. The decision was based on the recommendations by the competent health authorities. This is the quarantine that has now been lifted for passengers from UAE and 10 other countries.

In addition to this, it was earlier announced that certain categories of passengers will be excluded from the quarantine, including Saudi citizens, their spouses and children. Along with passengers who received COVID-19 vaccines, official delegations, as well as diplomats and their families residing with them will also be excluded from the institutional quarantine.

However, the authorities warned citizens against traveling to 13 countries without permission due to security and instability, especially with the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of new variant strains in some other countries, local media reported.

The 13 countries include Afghanistan, Armenia, Belarus, Congo, India, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Turkey, Venezuela and Yemen. The move comes as the Kingdom resumed international travel after more than a year due to the global outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
