Trump instructed the government to minimize purchases of goods from China

US President Donald Trump has instructed the federal government to develop measures to reduce purchases of Chinese goods. This is stated in a written statement by the Assistant to the Head of State for National Security Robert O'Brien. It is posted on the White House website.

“Today, President Donald Trump instructed agencies and departments to review applicable laws, regulations and programs to propose regulatory and policy changes, including possible executive measures to minimize purchases of goods and services from the People's Republic of China (PRC) by the federal government. [USA] ", - said the adviser.

The statement states that "China is targeting the US government's information systems for [obtaining] personal data, war plans and other data through cyberspace and other means."

"For this reason, the US must take appropriate measures to ensure the security of American interests," O'Brien said.

China poses the greatest threat to America's national security today, the statement said.

Over the past year, the US authorities have repeatedly announced sanctions against Chinese companies, accusing them of having links with  China's military-industrial complex. Nine Chinese companies were blacklisted this week, including aircraft maker Comac and mobile phone maker Xiaomi. Previously, 35 companies were sanctioned, including the oil giant CNOOC and the leading Chinese chip maker SMIC.

In mid-December, China called on the United States to stop pressured and violate Chinese companies' legitimate interests, and to stop politicizing trade issues and violating fair competition rules.
