According to the Indonesian Ministry of Transport, the plane crashed in the Java Sea. There were no Russians on board the deceased Boeing, the Russian embassy in Jakarta said.
A liner of the Indonesian airline Sriwijaya Air, which disappeared a few minutes after taking off from Jakarta airport, crashed in the Java Sea. Indonesian Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said this in an interview with Detik.
“Yes, not far from Male Island,” the minister said, according to whom his department intends to hold a press conference at which information about the emergency will be announced.

The plane crash was also reported by the Russian Embassy in Indonesia, which requested the National Agency for Search and Rescue of Indonesia for the presence of Russians on board.
“According to the preliminary information received, there were no compatriots on board the plane. We are clarifying the information, ”the diplomatic mission said.
Earlier, the head of administration of the Junaedi Thousand Islands Archipelago announced the crash of the Detik plane. In turn, CNN Indonesia, citing police representatives, reported that various debris and body parts were found in the area of the lost plane.
One of the fishermen from Lankang Island told CNN Indonesia that the plane exploded in the air and he himself heard the explosion in the sky, and then saw burning debris falling into the sea.
