Cyprus opens entry for tourists from all countries from March 1

Cyprus opens borders for tourists from all over the world from March 1, 2021, said the country's Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios. He announced this to the state TV channel CyBC, according to the tourist portal "Turprom".

“Tourists will be able to visit Cyprus without quarantine restrictions if they do not test positive for COVID-19 upon arrival,” he said.

According to the official, all countries will be divided into three color categories depending on the epidemiological situation.

Citizens of those in the green zone will not be able to be tested for coronavirus upon arrival in Cyprus. People entering from Orange Zone states will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test before boarding a plane. Residents of countries from the "red" zone, which Russia got into, must be tested both before the flight and after arriving at the site.

Cyprus banned foreigners from entering the country in mid-March last year. The decision was due to the spread of coronavirus infection in the world, the pandemic of which was announced by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020.

According to Johns Hopkins University, over the entire time, the coronavirus was found in 29.6 thousand residents of Cyprus. Of these, 178 died as a result of infection. The maximum daily increase in cases was recorded in the country on December 29, 2020 - 907 cases. On January 21, the virus was found in 164 people.
