Tottenham dealt a blow as Matt Doherty tests positive for coronavirus ahead of Manchester City clash

Tottenham has been dealt a blow as they will be without Matt Doherty for their Premier League games against Manchester City and Chelsea after the defender tested positive for Coronavirus.

The right-back tested positive for covid-19 along with fellow Republic of Ireland team-mate James McLean while on international duty for their country.

The pair played in Sunday night's 1-0 defeat by Wales, but have now been isolated from the rest of the group who flew back to Dublin on Monday morning, November 16th.

In a statement on Twitter, the Irish FA (FAI) said: "The Football Association of Ireland can confirm Matt Doherty and James McClean have tested positive for COVID-19

"The rest of the staff & squad tested negative ahead of the flight back to Dublin this morning before the match against Bulgaria on Wednesday."
