The UN commented on the murder of a nuclear physicist in Iran

The UN calls for restraint, to avoid steps that can lead to an escalation of the situation in the region, Deputy Secretary General of the organization Farhan Haq told RIA Novosti, commenting on the situation around the murder of Iranian nuclear engineer Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.


Earlier, the Iranian Ministry of Defense reported that  nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated. On the afternoon of November 27, armed men attacked the scientist; during a clash between his security service and terrorists, he was seriously wounded and  died in hospital .

The Iranian defense department called the incident a terrorist attack. The adviser to the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Hossein Dehga, promised to give an answer to the assassins of Fahrizada.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has declared his involvement in the assassination of Israel.

He called on the international community, and in particular the European Union, to end the policy of double standards and condemn the act of “state terrorism”.

The Israeli prime minister's office declined to comment on the Iranian authorities' allegations.
